Almost a month ago, I took a trip to Aspen with 9 amazing friends. The occasion was Mike D’s bachelor party. Not a huge fan of the traditional bachelor party, Mike invited all his friends, female and male, to Aspen for the weekend to celebrate. We rented two rooms at the Mountain House Lodge and made the most of every moment.
We arrived in Aspen Friday morning at 2am. After sleeping for only 5 hours, we woke at 7am, enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and hit the slopes. The day began with little sun and lots of snow. Luckily, it turned into a beautiful afternoon allowing us to enjoy the stunning views from the top. Friday evening was laid back, and after some homemade chili, a few cards games and a little hot tub action, we were all asleep.
Saturday we skied Highlands. The collective favorite of the three mountains, the Highlands had something for everyone. Adam and D climbed all the way to the top of a very big bowl, Lily and Ginger accidentally skied down a double black diamond, and Kip fell coming off the lift and hyper-extended his shoulder. Needless to say, the day was full of excitement.
Saturday evening we celebrated the special occasion. D treated us all to a wonderful dinner in Apsen, after which we explored downtown. First we stopped for margaritas, then off to an Irish pub, the next stop was Bentley’s and we ended the evening at The Regal where we danced and danced and danced some more.
Sunday morning, we rose promptly at 8am to enjoy the complimentary breakfast and were all back asleep by 9am. It was such a beautiful day that despite our post-night regrets, we eventually dragged ourselves out of bed and spent a wonderful afternoon walking around enjoying the beautiful town.
Monday came way too fast. While the group skied, I spent time catching up with Stefanie. We all met up for lunch, and before long, we were on our way back to Denver. After a quick dinner at our favorite Denver Mexican restaurant, Patzcauros, we hit the sack.
The entire weekend was perfect! On the drive home I couldn’t help but shed a tear, just thinking about how fortunate I am to spend my time with friends like these.

Adam and D actually made it to the top – painlessly apparently

The accidental run …. Ginger and Lily took a wrong turn and ended up on a double black diamond that took over an hour to descend. That little blue dot in the picture is Lily.

I had a blast! Thanks again for coming, and a little update to Kips injury. He ended up breaking 40% of the bones in his shoulder. He had surgery last Friday and will be down for 18 weeks! OUCH…
Ouch for Kip is right! That’s why I’m nervous about going skiing with Aubs and Adam at my advanced physiological age…
Great photos! It looks like a good time was had by all.
Love the pictures!!! I can’t wait to go back
