A few weeks ago Adam and I ventured southwest for our first camping trip this year. Devil’s Head came recommended by our friends Andrea and Nicole, so we decided to check it out. The campground is located about one and half hours from Denver and sits on a beautiful piece of land.
Upon arrival, we found a great camping site within walking distance to the Devil’s Head Fire Lookout trail. We had just enough time to set up our campsite before the rain started. Luckily, we brough dad’s enormous tent and enjoyed peanut butter sandwiches in the comfort of its walls before falling asleep.
Saturday we hiked up to the Fire Lookout. This is the place forest rangers go to look for fires all across the front range. As you’ll see from the photos, the view is gorgeous! Later that afternoon, Bri, Howie, Maggie and John joined us. We cooked an amazing meal and enjoyed s’mores around the campfire. The boys went a little crazy and built the largest fire I’ve ever seen. (If Maggie would send me her pictures I could show you what it looked like).
The next morning, after a delicious breakfast, it was time to pack up and head home. Cheers to a successful first trip.
